Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Italy!
We will treat you to luxury from the moment you step foot in the iconic country with a private water taxi ride from Venice airport to your hotel on Venice’s main island. After some time to settle in at your hotel and perhaps enjoy an aperitif or Aperol Spritz, we’ll then treat you to a romantic gondola ride through some of Venice’s hidden canals. We can’t think of a more romantic way to start your honeymoon in Italy!

Day 2: Day tour of Venice – Italy’s Floating City
Today you will enjoy the delights of Venice on a guided tour so that you too can understand why travel magazines list Venice as a “must-see” destination. This tour is focused on Venice’s most iconic sights, including the Doge Palace, St Mark’s Square and the Basilica, giving you the opportunity to learn all about this city’s colourful past and see wonderful art and architecture.

Day 3: Leisure day

Day 4: Revel in the romance of Verona
It is time to say goodbye to the magical atmosphere of Venice as today we take you by high-speed train to the relaxed city of Verona. This city is unmistakably associated with love and inspired Shakespeare in writing Romeo & Juliet, making this city the idea place to continue your honeymoon in Italy. After arrival, you will have the rest of the day to relax or perhaps spend time together in one of the city’s charming cafes.

Day 5: See Verona’s most romantic sights
Take a day to discover Verona’s most romantic landmarks on a Shakespeare-themed walking tour that takes you to the sights from Romeo & Juliet, including Juliet’s Balcony, the fairytale-like castle that stands astride the Adige River and the House of Capulet.

Day 6: Leisure day

Day 7: Discover the magic of the lakes
It is time to say goodbye to the vibrancy of Venice and Verona, and escape to nature for four nights of relaxation on the banks of Lake Maggiore. In the morning, you will enjoy a journey on a high-speed train to Milan station, where our tour guide will meet you and take you on a glorious tour of Lake Como and Bellagio, which is a heavenly region of Italy, featuring glistening waters set against a mountain backdrop decorated with alpine woodland. After the tour, our driver will take you by car to your luxurious hotel in Stresa on the banks of the grand Lake Maggiore, where you can relax in the natural landscape.

Day 8: Zermatt and the Matterhorn
Today you will experience the contrasting diversity of Italy’s landscape, with an Alpine tour of Zermatt. This group tour takes you through the Ossola Valley, which winds gracefully up towards the Alps, leading you to the famous Simplon Pass, where you can take in unbeatable 360° panoramic views of the Swiss and Italian Alps. Your journey then continues through Brig (with its Stockalper castle), Visp and along the Matter Valley, leading you into the heart of the Alps, where you can take the rack and pinion railway up to Zermatt itself. Here, at 5,315 ft above sea level, you can marvel at the most famous peaks in the Alps, including the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and the Gornergrat. You can also explore the picturesque scenes in Zermatt, which is completely pedestrianised, and admire boutique shops and quaint village workshops. You will have plenty of free time to explore Zermatt before reflecting on your day of discovery on your group transfer back to Stresa.

Days 9 and 10: Leisure day

Day 11: Island hopping in the Italian Lake District
After enjoying panoramic mountain scenes yesterday, today you will be treated to a day of island hopping through the Borromean Islands by boat. On this exclusive tour, you will stop in Isola Pescatori, which is a charming island with quaint houses lining the cobbled lanes and fishing boats bobbing around gently in the harbour, and Isola Bella, which is the most famous of the Borromean Islands. On both islands you will have free time to discover the best attractions – be sure to stop by the famous Palazzo on Isola Bella, where you’ll find magnificent gardens, as well as the ancient amphitheatre.

Day 12: Arrivederci Italia!
Today sees you leaving this remarkable country but you can still enjoy one last luxury with a private transfer from your hotel in Como to the airport for your flight home.

Please note that this package does not include flights. When purchasing your flights from your chosen airline, we recommend that you fly into Venice Marco Polo and fly out of Verona Villafranca Airport to take advantage of your private airport transfers.
